Schwaab, Inc Acquires Carolina Marking Devices

Milwaukee, Wisconsin - November 22, 2011

Schwaab, Inc. announced today that it acquired Charlotte, NC based Carolina Marking Devices.  The terms and conditions of the sale were not disclosed.

Schwaab, Inc. is a family owned and run company dating back four generations to 1881 and one of the largest manufacturers of hand stamps, name badges/namplates, signage and business cards in the world.

Carolina Marking Devices has been the dominant supplier of these same products in the Southeast.  Sol Shapiro founded the company in 1957 and after his passing in 1996, his wife Ada, took over all responsibilities.  Recently, Ada decided to retire and look for a company that would carry on its traditioin of supplying quality products and service.

Schwaab will maintain the Sales and Marketing for Carolina Marking in Charlotte and will move Manufacturing primarily to a nearby production facility in Atlanta, GA and to a lesser extent its headquarters in Milwaukee, WI, says Douglas R. Lane, President of Schwaab.

One of our growth strategies is and has been to grow sales of our core product lines through acquisition in strategic geographic locations throughout the United States.  Carolina Marking is the 9th made in the past 10 years.  Other acquistions made were:  Mastermark, Seatle, WA; Mohawk Stamp, Chicago, IL; GB Products, San Francisco, CA; Fresno Rubber Stamp, Fresno, CA; AWT, Burbank, CA; Classic Impressions, Atlanta, GA and Little Rock, AR; Capitol Rubber Stamp, Milwaukee, WI and Rubberstamps.com, Memphis, TN.
